Best Credit Bureau: TransUnion-Experian-Equifax
Friday, May 9th, 2008Best Credit Bureau: TransUnion-Experian-Equifax
This is a follow up to my post a few weeks ago about signing up to the 3 credit bureaus
After the last couple of days of hearing how bad customer service is getting with some companies, and how people are getting disconnected over and over and spending hours just to get stuff done, and with many companies I am hearing this.
I dreaded calling the 3 credit bureaus, I asked myself if I had time to stay focused to go one by one until I could cancel them. I was happy with the services, I pulled my credit score, I guess I just wanted a credit score this one time with each and didn’t want to stay on a monthly billing. Although the monthly billing with alerts, and changes to your account does have it’s advantages. I sent an email to equifax that didn’t go very far. I found that I wasn’t finding a way to email very easily, so I picked up the phone. I actually had all 3 cancelled in under 15 minutes, I was impressed.
First I went to cancel Experian (Free Credit Report.com) Triple Advantage, I had to give them my ss# and mother’s maiden name I think. The customer rep was very pleasant and personable. She talked to me for a few minutes listened to what I said, then sold me really hard with bonuses, offers, etc., but she was very nice about it. She tried to build value, and she did a great job, but I still decided to cancel. She was nice, after about 5-6 minutes on the phone it was canceled.
Next I called TransUnion TrueCredit.com and I gave them my ss#, date of birth, and some quick info. Within less than 2 minutes he thanked me and let me cancel. His english was very easy to understand. This was a quick and easy phone call.
Last call was to Experian to cancel. This person was hard to understand and sounded like a robot at times. She asked a few questions like ss#, maybe mother’s maiden name, and some questions. After about 2 minutes of questions she put me on hold for like 5 minutes at least, then came back for about 30 seconds, was nice and let me cancel.
I think I spent more time dreading the calls than the time it took to make the calls. Their customer service on all 3 were pretty decent actually. I would probably sign up again just knowing that canceling wasn’t the worst thing.
Plus I believe the experian person told me I could keep pulling my credit every day as part of the account, I believe she said that, that’s pretty good.
Overall with the alerts, and identity theft out there, these programs sound pretty good and worth having. I will be a customer very soon again.
