RonOrr.com was created to show some of the many training materials I read along the way learning real estate. I update it very often, and it’s a way to help out the community to show what books, tapes, cd’s, seminars, teleseminars, tv, video, etc is out there to learn from. The focus is first on Real estate, then money and success. It also spills over into personal development and self-improvement. Nothing against fiction books, I just prefer to spend my time learning and moving forward daily with all that I read. As you can see with the color RED on this page, these are books, and audio’s I am still yet to read or listen to or in the middle of. Some day this site or RonOrr.com will have reviews of many of these training materials. I know people want a shortcut to all of this, and can’t imagine having enough hours and years to read all of this stuff.
I started reading this stuff about 2003. I probably read or listened to about 100 things until one day I decided to memorize and look back on all that I have learned. I wanted to share with others what I have learned as well as tell others what other training materials I have learned from. I have been a full time student while at the same time a full time real estate investor/agent since April/May of 2002. That puts me at around 6 years in the business, what makes me different is I didn’t spent 2 hours a week learning, I had audio or a book in my hands at almost all times. I remain humble and continue to read and listen to audio basically every day. There is so much to learn, so many secrets. Probably what will be different about my blog compared to all of the real estate books you read, is I will tell you a little bit about how it really is, and be honest based on some experience. I also have to be honest and say with the 600-1500 other newer to novice investors from 2002 to 2008 that I have met, talked to, had lunch with, I have learned so many things from as well, and I appreciate all they have taught me, as well as their opinions on matters and niches they are a part of
Ron Orr.com fits into these categories: It shows a little bit of a history of what I have done and since when. Then it gets into various books for sale on Amazon by category and by author, I will add more later on, but this will get you started. I have provided an example of some various continuing education classes I have taken for my real estate license. I then go into a long list of books. I really like books, but I would say I like audio more now because I can relax more listening and I can drive or do other things. I then have a list of Audio. This is mostly cd’s and tapes. I can’t wait until the day most of this comes out on mp3′s, I may have to convert it myself. Seminars is the next topic. Seminars are interesting, most seminars that are 1 hour or less are just a sales pitch, once you have seen one you have seen most. I still went to all of them, many were longer, hey if I even learn a couple of things, it’s worth it to me. I have been to 1 and 3 day event’s that were almost free.
Always take cheap or free training from an expert, it’s well worth it. Online message boards, I use to surf those more, I haven’t in a couple of years. There are a couple of reasons. Sometimes people post things that are inaccurate, and the other reason is so many posters are from other states that answers differ too much from state to state. Also many of the questions on those sites are so case by case. I briefly show board games. I go right into MNREIA, this is the MN real estate investors Association. I have been going here since the beginning, I have been going since about the last month in 2002. I have met a lot of good friends over the years. I have watched it go from 30 people to easily 275 people every month. The president Mike Jacka is a great guy, and knows his stuff. MNREIA.com has info to join. I put a couple of radio audio shows. I have listed some Video, teleconferences which are typically 1 hour+ and free, most end with a sales pitch. I also added tv shows, tv shows can be free, and there are so many to choose from. TLC, HGTV, A&E are all great networks to watch shows about real estate. The shows aren’t just about flipping houses.
I use to have a page about all of the different forms in real estate, I have spent a lot of time researching forms and finding them, but I decided not to hand them out for now, and leave that to the lawyers, or legalwiz.com. Please visit this site often, I’ll promise to add to the list and add books for sale, and maybe even link my own list to amazon. One question readers probably want to ask is what is the best thing off that list you have read? I would say that’s hard to say. I really enjoyed the E-myth, and I think that the audio is something that needs to be in your library. I really liked the millionaire agent. I was new at the time I read it, but I enjoyed the way it was layed out and the subject. As far as real estate trainers go. My 3 favorites at this time are Ron Legrand, Louis Brown, and Ray Como. I haven’t listened to a lot of the others, so I may change that later. Please feel free to contact me anytime for a meeting if you want to invest in real estate. Also if you want to recommend a book, or audio, please email me at ron@minnesotainvestors.com
