Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

I am listening to the 2 cassette audio set named: Guide to Investing: What the rich invest in, that the poor and middle class do not!

This is a very important tape to listen to, I have listened to almost everything that Robert Kiyosaki has come out with.  Some of the important topics that are discussed are different entity types such as C corporation, S Corporation, Sole proprietorship, LLC, LLP, and which one is best for most people based on asset protection and tax advantages and disadvantages as well as flexibility.  There is a lot talked about what a liability is (something that takes money out of your pocket) vs. what an asset is (something that puts money into your pocket) , where someone’s own home is often thought of as an asset, but it takes money out of your pocket, therefore should reflect that on your balance sheet.  One of the most important concepts you can learn from this audio is the different types of money such as passive income, earned income, etc and how it’s taxed.  It’s explained that most of the big and easiest money you make can be taxed at a much lower rate than the hard earned money at a high tax bracket.

You will get to hear the story of Robert Kiyosaki from how he started in Nylon wallets, to how he has learned lessons in life about money and business. You will get to see how he evolved into real estate based on the lessons.   It’s said you should focus on building your own business instead of getting a second job, and the reason is that the second job is earned income at a higher tax rate, where as with your business you can get taxed differently.  The tape talks about how much you can learn from starting your own business.  The second tape gets into opening a public company and going public and getting others to invest you in you.  It talks about working on a business concept based on demand what is needed in the future.  They talk about raising money when you try to make your company go public.  They talk a lot about how it’s now the information age and how to take advantage of that and use it to your advantage.  There is talk about joining a network marketing company when you decide to start your own company. There is talk about how the rich have their assets working for them, and a lot of talk about control of assets.  I would recommend listening to this tape set.

Rich Dad Books, Audio, DVD, Must See

Friday, July 25th, 2008

I have been reading the Rich Dad series for quite a long time, so I thought I would show you what some of the available books are right now that you can buy in the series. With top CPA’s , property managers, it’s no wonder you have probably heard of the popular yellow, purple, and black books by Robert Kiyosaki. These books offer many great tips on investing, real estate investing, how to avoid pitfalls, and how best to spend your time investing. This book is big on comparing employees vs. self employed vs. investors. It will talk a little bit about tax deductions and many additional tips and tricks you can use in your real estate investing career.
I have also added some DVD’s for those who like to watch instead of read.

For those that like audio and CD instead of reading, I have listed those for you also.

This is a CD I got from going to a free Robert Kiyosaki seminar for 2 hours. I forget the name of the teacher that day. It’s called How to: Find Great Investments.  Tips for Evaluating Opportunities in Business and Real Estate.  Learn what to look for, what quetions to ask- and what you can do to impace tghe bottom line profitability of your investments.  It also has photos for Sharon Lechter and Kim Kiyosaki his wife. The back of the CD case says you will learn how to read an operating statement. They want you to train your mind to see investments. As I have stated in other posts, I have read about 12 of Robert’s books and listened to audio. Rich Dad Poor Dad the book is a must. They have free bonus downloads on Richdadeducation.com also try RichDad.com Other things they want to teach you on the CD include weight cashflow vs. capital gains, and why cashflow is what you want.  Why education and vocabulary are essential first steps to successful investing.  You will want to check out his various training sources, sometimes his training seminar comes to the twin cities, keep your eyes open for that.

Why We Want You to Be Rich: Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

If you haven’t read this book “Why we want you to be rich” by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki, it’s a must read. I read it about 1 year ago and really enjoyed it. It’s rare to get two top pro’s like these 2 together, so when you do take advantage and learn from it. This is a New York Times #1 Best Seller. Donald is from New York and Robert is from Hawaii. One thing they both agree on is that you should invest to win, go for it, don’t invest to “not lose” or be too conservative. They aren’t big believers in only saving, just working hard, living below your means, save money, they want you to do even more and invest your money through leverage. They are both big believers that you should invest in what you love, and have a passion for it. They both believe in being visionaries. The way this book is kind of set up is they take a topic and have Robert Kiyoski give his thoughts on it and write a chapter, then they’ll have Donald Trump do the same thing. I have a copy of the softcover book and hard cover. The later version of my paperback came with an audio CD. In 2004 is when they first got together to do talk about this book.

Let me tell you a little bit about my experience with these two. I saw Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump both in person in Chicago in 2006. I enjoyed it, it was a huge even and it was the learning annex that put it on. Also I have read about 5 of Donald Trumps books, and about 12 of Robert Kiyosaki’s books or books in his series. I have listened to the audio version of a few of the books. Rich Dad Poor Dad is the first “must read” then the cashflow quadrant is very important. To me Donald Trumps books are hard to relate to as a beginner, but what I will say it that Donald Trump things BIG, and you do gain confidence after reading Trump’s books. Kiyosaki covers a lot of the similar message over and over through out many of his books, but they are worth reading most of them, there is knowledge there you just have to have. I would recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad as one of those books you must read if you are going to read any books.

To look up a lot of the available books these two have written and which ones can be purchased , please just look at my site of training materials I have read. That is located at www.RonOrr.com many books to choose from there. These two guys have their own style to follow, they are both very very successful. It’s rare to see them in person, maybe look for the learning annex in the future.
